9X9 Sparkling start – Beat Bastardz into the final
The 9X9 event made a great start on Friday 19 March – After the welcome by the brilliant Pamela Andersom, there was whirling breakdance and impressive solo choreography in the atmospheric theatre of the COC building. DJ Rico from St. Petersburg was spinning refreshing dance music from the beginning of the evening and at midnight DJ Zubrowka took over.
Concerto Paradis artists, VIP act Convoi Exceptional and the 9X9 talent show participants made the show spectacular. Also, Hartenstraat, one of The 9 Streets within the Amsterdam canal belt, was put in the spotlight.
After a warm-up by the Convoi Exceptional percussionists and saxophonist, singer Roshana Lambourgini opened with a solo. After that, Lina Smile gave a preview of the show that she is preparing with Concerto Paradis.
The third act, national beatbox champion Cheryl van Tricht, was unfortunately prevented from performing at the last minute, so production manager Nico Voskamp and later PR and assistant producer Romy Buijtenhek stood in, and managed to sparkle!
Exclusive praise from the jury
In the second part of the show, the talent show hopefuls were in the spotlight. Terry Jefferson laid down Michael Jackson dance, the Beat Bastardz went totally crazy with their breakdance act, and dancer Frank Waterberg with his graceful wings and arm movements had the audience in the palm of his hand.
The jury, consisting of Jacques Martirosov (creative producer of Concerto Paradis), Elena Ekichina (singing teacher and singer), and Anthony Vandecastele (choreographer) had only praise for the three acts.
The Beat Bastardz were voted as winners of the first evening. The group received a beautiful mask as a trophy and a place in the final in November. After the talent show, Convoi Exceptional performed. The musicians met with resounding applause; the audience wanted more and got it!
The third part of the show consisted completely of the artists of Concerto Paradis. Lina Smile sang solo and Roshana glittered with the Concerto Paradis dancers: Joanna Schwing, Ana Silverio and Nico Voskamp. They performed Ibiza and Diva, two numbers from the show 'We Are Talking Modern'.
Hartenstraat
Not only were the acts at this first 9X9 event of high quality, there was also excellent dance music from DJ Rico and DJ Zubrowka. The hall was decorated with red hearts, keeping to the Hartenstraat theme.
On arrival, everybody was offered a welcome drink on behalf of the restaurant VAN HEART, and as a memento, the audience were given goody bags (the well-known ART bag from 'Stop Aids Now!', designed by Jan Taminiau) filled with trinklets from Hotel Belga and COC, and discount vouchers for Restaurant Van Heart and Beauté 'l Essence.
The bonus from this first evening was that a nice sum was raised for 'Stop Aids Now!', which 9X9 is supporting. |
